David P. Traver, M.D., FAAP

Dr. David Traver is a board certified pediatrician and a Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics.

Dr. Traver received his B.A. in Biology from Boston University.  After graduating with high honors, he received his doctoral degree from the Boston University School of Medicine.  He completed his residency in general pediatrics at Boston City Hospital.  He later completed a year of additional postgraduate clinical training at Olive View-UCLA Medical Center.  Following this, he worked in the field of international medicine where he served as a pediatrician for a nonprofit organization which provided benevolence to various developing countries.

Upon returning to the States, he worked as a pediatrician at a large managed care group.  He subsequently became interested in the field of Autistic Spectrum Disorders.  Pursuant to his interests, Dr. Traver worked for a year as a pediatrician in the Pervasive Developmental Disorder/Neuropsychiatry Clinic in Stanford Medical Center's Division of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry.  In addition to his time in this clinic, Dr. Traver also spent an additional year becoming familiar with the medical management of patients with Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder.

It was during this time that Dr. Traver became familiar with the biomedical approach to treating Autistic Spectrum Disorders, known as the DAN! Protocol.  He has attended national conferences and training programs focused on this protocol, and has spoken at seminars and parent support groups on the assessment and treatment of spectrum disorders.  He now adopts the biomedical approach as the first line treatment for these conditions.
